Safepoint after the restore

Hy there,

I’ve just successfully restored all my WDMBL from the safepoint on another WDMBL. Now I’d like to continue to use the same safepoint for further backups. The WEB Interface do not show the original safepoint and when I try to create the new one using the original name, il is not accepted (message safepoint name xxx already exists).

So how to re-connect the backup/restore engine to continue to use the same safepoint which was just used for the recovery ?

TIA,

Vlad

OK, so what I did so far :
My WDMBL201 was restored from the MYBOOKLIVEDUO, the name of the safe point was  “WD_MBL_201“, and what I want now is to reuse the same safe point (WD_MBL_201) for the further backups of my WDMBL201 without recreating the safe point again (1GB restored in 2 days, so the creation of the safe point would take another 2 days I suppose, and all this only to copy the same data back to the Backup server…).

  1. ON THE BACKUP Machine (MYBOOKLIVEDUO) I’ve fount some strange label the WDMBL gives to the safe point for the safe point “WD_MBL_201” defined in the “Public” share:
    MYBOOKLIVEDUO: ls -l /DataVolume/shares/Public/_WDPROT/WDSAFE/WD_MBL_201/
    total 256
    drwxrwxr-x  2 nobody share 65536 Sep 10  2012 backup
    -rwxrw-r–  1 nobody share   614 Mar 16 03:30 f4c62fca89c288f9a56a6f3151f30e15.info
    drwxrwxr-x 11 nobody share 65536 Feb  1 21:35 shares
    drwxrwxr-x  3 nobody share 65536 Mar 13 02:07 system

here is it: f4c62fca89c288f9a56a6f3151f30e15

  1. On the freshly restored WDMBL201, I’ve create the directory using the previous label here

WDMBL201: mkdir /media/WDSAFE/f4c62fca89c288f9a56a6f3151f30e15
WDMBL201: chmod 655 /media/WDSAFE/f4c62fca89c288f9a56a6f3151f30e15

  1. the Backup machine WDMBL203 IP is 192.168.1.203/,  and the “Public” is the share I used for the backup, mount this share using “cifs”
    WDMBL201: mount //192.168.1.203/Public  /media/WDSAFE/f4c62fca89c288f9a56a6f3151f30e15/ -t cifs

  2. I gave some specs of this safe point here:
    WDMBL201: cd /CacheVolume/WDPROT/WDSAFE/safepts
    WDMBL201: cat > f4c62fca89c288f9a56a6f3151f30e15.info

action_process_id = 0
active = 1
target_device_name = MYBOOKLIVEDUO
target_folder = WD_MBL_201
target_ip_addr = 192.168.1.203
target_password =
target_share = Public
target_username =

ctrl-D
5) AT this stage I can see the safe point in the Web interface, I will try to lunch a new backup now……

I will inform soon

No success yet :(, looks now like permissions problem, some private/public key exchange has to be setup, or ? Anyone has success to make this work ?

TIA, Vlad

OK, I will not insist, I will recreate the backup again, this is anyway not a professional solution so I accept to bloat my local network for another 2 day redooing the copy back to my backup WD.

BUT, my Backup WD is full (because of the previous backup which I can’t make visible). So how to delete this old backup (which I used to restore my first WD) properly ? I do not see it in either WEB Interface.

Thanks in advance,

Vladimir.
