Reset password

I want to update the firmware and also open dashboard using WD quick view.  It asks for a password.  None of the obvious ones work, so I have held in the rest button on the back of MBL for more than 4 seconds and have also unplugged the MBL… I still cant get access, leaving the passowrd blank or putting in admin… suggestions please.  Thanks.

I would suggest accessing the dashboard directly from your web-browser

Just enter your MYBOOKLIVE IP or NETWORKNAME in the address bar. I assume quickview isn’t playing nice as the reset button erases the password for the dashboard and sets the network back to DHCP and reboots.

Tried via the browser using the MYBOOKLIVE IP with no luck either.  What is the NETWORKNAME when entering into an address bar? Quickview is working, showing a green light and with accurate recent information on the alerts and properties sections.  Just no luck when entering passowrds or leaving blank. Thanks.

http:// refers to the IP you get. Such as " http://192.168.1.101". You will need to find out what IP your router is providing.

Or also try “http://mybooklive”.

also, take some time to read the manual as all of those options are mentioned there.

Thanks I do have the IP address as that comes up in the QuickView properties section.  It directs me to the page looking for a password.  All the obvious ones dont work and on pressing the reset button on the MyBookLive typing admin or leaving the password blank does not take me to the dashboard as I was hoping for, so that I can update to the latest firmware. Thanks.

It just worked … I decided to reset the MyBookLive with a paperclip, the 5 other times I used a pen … the paperclip worked!! Dont ask me why. Password left blank. Thanks
