Reformatting Mybook live in Vista

Hi

Just bought 1tb Mylive book which is formatted with NTFS.

My problem is that my tv,amp or internet radio do not recognise this format, which make MBL a bit of a non-starter.

Reformatting it to FAT32 will solve my problem(hopefully).

Can anyone please tell me the best way to do this task and the consequences of doing it.

My thoughts are that if everything is deleted on formatting then everything could be reinstalled via my disc.

There is no music files as yet being added which cannot be deleted before formatting.

I have added a music file to test the availabilty and it could not be played.

Thanks for looking and hopefully someone will help me.

Dennis

the MyBookLive is a NAS and runs it’s own operating system which is based on Debian. You can’t remove the drive from the case and format it to NTFS as it would delete the drives operating system and brick the drive.

How are you trying to connect to the drive? You need to set it up as a DLNA server or access it directly via Windows shares.

I suggest you take a look at the manual for help on setting this all up
