OK to move ethernet cable from router to computer?
Not recommended unless you are an advanced user or are willing to research and learn networking.
But the basic would be:
Option 1: Add static IPs to both, MBL and PC on the same network
Option 2: setup laptop as a DHCP server.
Best simple option for non-advanced users:
Connect PC to the router as well with an ethernet cable. This will provide you almost the same speeds as the options mentioned above.
