Not able to access drive via web browser/IP address

Hello -

I installed the software on my laptop and connected the the My Book Live to my router.  Anytime I try accessing the drive by launching my browser and pinging the IP address I receive the message that the page cannot be displayed.

When I try to access the book via Network in Windows Vista, I get an error as well.

The drive works in that I can see the drive as a device in iTunes and it ran some sort of initial back-up, but I can’t seem to figure out how to physically move files off of my hard drive to the book.  

Western Digital tells me I need to replace the unit, but I don’t buy that.

Any tips?

make sure your internet security or firewall is not blocking the connection

try disabling all of those…

make sure the drive and the computer are on the same workgroup

if connected to a switch ,… try the router instead

check the routers IP table to see if getting an IP

try resetting the drive , different port on the router

try connecting direct to the computer and see if you can connect
