No network lights and red LED

Hi I’ve owned my MBL for almost a year without any problems.  I may have bricked it due to a power fluctuation.  I can hear the drive spin up but the network port link lights do not light up at all.  I tried changing cables and ports.  Nothing.

I haven’t tried connecting it directly to a PC - will do that tonight.  

2 questions:

  1. Any other things I should try?  I’ve submitted a support request and I’m still in my RMA period.

  2. If I RMA it to WD, would they move the data onto the replacement drive (or am I just dreaming)?

Sounds like the NIC is fried. The lights normally start blinking as soon as it is powered on. RMA is your best bet and the data transfer would be your responsibility. Let me know if you need help with that.

Where in NY are you? I used to be up between Syracuse and Rochester…

Thanks - I’m not sure if I’m comfortabe sending that over with the possibility of causing more damage from shipping.  Not sure if I should bite the bullet and just pull the drive out and call it quits.

I’m actually from the nyc area, but loved central NY when I went to school there.
