My experience:

Tried updating from the update reminder, using my wirelessly connected laptop. Stuck at 10% for about 30 min. I closed the dashboard but did not reboot the MBL. Seems to work well.

Opened dashboard on my wired desktop PC. Disabled Norton SmartFirewall (I doubt that played a role but you never know). Then ran the update from the update reminder on the wired desktop PC. Update went without a hitch and took about 8 minutes.
Takeaways: Be safe- Connect to your router with an ethernet cable, temporarily shut down your software firewall (not sure the firewall has to be disabled, but way find out the hard way). If you get stuck for a while at 10%, close the dashboard, open the dashboard and try again. DO NOT REBOOT YOUR MBL UNTIL THE UPDATE COMPLETES SUCCESSFULLY!
Or, be safer and skip the update until the process if fixed.
