MyBookLive do not "play" mkv files from Panasonic TV

Hello.

Mkv, mov and other files are not played from Panasonic TV via MBL.

Mpg files are played without any problems.

The same mkv files putted to another USB hard disk are played from Panasonic TV.

I have installed Serviio on my PC and used the MBL like as storage or resource for Serviio. Mkv files that are not played from Panasonic TV directely, are played indirectely passing the Serviio media server.

Files are in the same directory and same storage, but via TV does not work, via Serviio are good.

I would like just switch on TV and MBL for playing all kind files most used like mkv.

Have a nice day.

If you have not updated the firmware in the last couple of months make sure to do so.

The media server has been changed in order to get one that supports a wider variety of files.

How to update the firmware on a My Book Live or My Book Live Duo

http://wdc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5735

Firmware is the last one and updated.

Mkv are the most popular kind of files.

Files from my mobile are not supported .mp4

Files from my photo camera are not supported .mov

Actually only mpeg files are reproduced.

The Problem is still not solved.

I have find a old My Book Live with the Twonky media player installed.

It play all video files that I have.

My new My Book Live mpeg only !

Normally new devices offers more option and performance.

I hope WD give me a solutions and a firmware that really play all the consumer video files.

Then do what WD suggested above and change the media player.

I am not jocking.

Solutions suggested from WD it does not work.

What do you think that I have time to spend off here ?

I am still waiting from the Italian support the solution, and I have posted what I have discovered, that is all.

Something must be lost in translation.  According to Babelfish and Google Translate, you said:

“Mom out there is a red truck.  Will be of some ■■■■■!”

Not sure what that means.   Some Italian idiom?

Anyway, did you actually follow the instructions?   Your answer was “Firmware is the last one and updated.”   The instructions also include information and switching to a different media server.

Did everything, make some test in according to WD Italian support.

It does not work.

Question.

It is only a money reason leave twonky ?

I do not know, but this media server It does not work, and in this case, for my use, switch it Off or On is the same things. I do not need this NAS without the possibility to play all the consumer files.

Autocarro rosso ?

Your translator is good.

I am sorry for you, it is so laughing…I love it.

Today WD support call me for offer to me a cash back for the MyBookLive.

They told me that there is no solution for this case.

Repeating…

THERE IS NOT SOLUTION FOR THIS CASE.

That is serious service, to give me money back, but I will prefer to play my beautiful files.

I do not have any more words.

My solution.

I do not have accepted the cash back from WD, MBL is a good solution.

I have bought and installed Twonky Media Server on my MBL.

Now all the video files are played up with out any problem.

WD should install twonky like as the oldest MBL… no ?

Anyway thank for all suggestion.
