My WD My Book NAS will not boot

Technical support had no useful advice (is your device connected to an outlet?).  I paid a fee to get that “valuable” insight.

Then they suggested that I purchase a new AC adapter (which I did).  Still didn’t work.

The technical support then told me that a hard disk was probably bad, so I should go find some other third party vendor to rescue my data.  For a company that makes devices to protect your data, they should at least have a plan to handle problems with their hardware.

If you want to protect your most important data, I would recommend considering alternative vendors who offer real solutions when something goes wrong.

If you want to protect your most important data, you should have it backed up.

What do you expect WD to do?

Yes, NAS and USB hard drives are not backups.

Backups = software

redundancy = hardware

Read this link in willing to understand the differences.

Also, do you have any LEDs? If you do, check the what the color means in the manual.

You do realize that we are not WD staff, right? Therefore you are not our customer.
