My Book Live cannot be detected or "seen" on Windows Server 2012 R2 Essential

Hi:

I have recently installed Windows Server 2012 R2 Essential and was looking for adding “My Book Live” as a back up device. I can see this “My Book Live” on the network from laptops / desktop, however I cannot see it from the Windows server (which is on the same network).

How can I see this “My Book Live” drive on the server and enable it to take the server back-up?

Hello, Windows Server 2012 R2 is not supported, but maybe some of the others users can share some advice.

Thanks a lot for your inputs. Is there any other way to get connected to the server? I had seen following link:

which mentions about Windows Essential Server 2012 (but not R2) and this link was updated way back in 2012 with old version of WD Link software.

Is this still valid?

see if you can connect via its IP such as //192.168.1.10, it should show the shares

//IP = Will show the shares via samba

http://IP = Will show the admin dashboard
