Music Server Missing from iTunes

I’m used to my my My Book Live server showing up in my iTunes sidebar under ‘shared’ .  It’s recently disappeared. I don’t know when this happened because all my current music is on my laptop, the stuff on the server is a kind of archive, so I don’t use it that often.

Is this some new problem with iTunes, or do I need to go and reboot abolutely everything ?

I’ve already restarted iTunes on two computers and rebooted the mybook.

Two computer affected are

  • MacBook Pro, OS X 10.9.2, iTunes 11.1.5
  • MacBook Pro, OS X 10.6.8, iTunes 11.1.3

The My Book Live Firmware is at: MyBookLive 02.43.03-022 : Core F/W

“Twonky Media Music Server Missing from iTunes”

Well, for one thing, Twonky Media and iTunes are two totally different, unrelated services.

Twonky Media is a DLNA server.  iTunes doesn’t use Twonky.

iTunes uses iTunes Server.  DLNA devices don’t use iTunes Server.

The first thing to check is to ensure you still have iTunes Server enabled on your MBL.

Oh and in attempt to repair, I’ve also turned off, and then on again, the iTunes part of the my book live server, and asked it to rescan.

My mistake … however I was using the right part of the My Book server to get the apropriate options, see above. Yes iTunes was enabled.

Sorry, appears to be an iTunes update issue (11.1). Either restarting the mac will work, or these steps:

  1. Disable homesharing in Itunes (file menu) ,

  2. close itunes ,

  3. start itunes

  4. enable homesharing.
