MBL and Windows 8.1 DLNA Streaming Issue

I recently purchased my first Windows 8.1 laptop and added it to my network. I use a MyBook Live with Twonky Media Server. When I try to open videos from MBL on this laptop it gives me a screen that shows it is copying the entire file to a temp folder/location, and then it plays it. I have tested it with all sorts of videos and it always does the same thing.

Since I am so late to the game on W8.1 have I missed something about its streaming capabilities? I have no issues with my other WIndows 7 computers, XBMC devices, Xbox360/Xbox One, etc. The only device  that refuses to just stream is this new laptop.

Then, I also noticed that it will not play… or even manually copy, a .mkv file in any way. It just gives me error 0xc00d001a . I tested all other file types and they work properly. Then, just to be sure, I used the browser based Twonky Server and it gives an error about invalid URL for my mkv files.

I did, of course, test all the same items on my Windows 7 PC and everything worked properly.

If anyone has any ideas or known issues please let me know. I have reached the end of my ability to Google Search for this issue.
