I’ve spent the last two days on this board searching through old posts and I’m pretty sure that one of the excellent NFODIZ guides is what I need. My concern is that I’m not sure which one.

My Windows 7 64-Bit laptop doesn’t see the drive. I’ve connected in directly to the laptop and through the router. I can’t access the dashboard. Is my only option to recover the data to open it up and plug in directly? It’s covered for replacement so I am hesitant to void the warranty but the data is important. Any thoughts?

NFODIZ is what you need, and the guides achieve the same. The difference…

V1 =  tells you how to recover the data

V2 = does not tell you how to recover data but provides link to V1

Now, if under warranty, explain your issue to them, see if they make an exception of you opening the box to recover the data, then get a replacement.
