How can I automatically clone my MyBook Live?

I have a 1TB MyBook Live running at home with a MacBook Pro. At the moment it is used more as a cloud drive rather than a back-up of my hardrive on my Mac. Using this single drive obviously leaves me open to issues if the drive fails.

I wondered if anyone knows how I can plug a 1TB USB drive into my router and have it automatically clone the MyBook drive? I can think how I can do this when the Mac is on and at home, but I do work remotely and for extended periods of time and so I could potentially modify or add a lot of files which ideally should be automatically cloned when I’m not there…

Anyone help?

That’s exactly what the MBL’s Safepoint can do.

While it’s not an EXACT (1-to-1) “clone” in how that definition usually goes, it does copy ALL user data, and then information on how to reconstruct the configuration of the drive.  It’s also not cloned in real-time, but on a schedule.

Your router must “expose” that 1TB disk as a network share in order for the safepoint to be able to find it and use it as a destination.

Your Mac doesn’t need to be present for the safepoint to operate.
