HELP! Mac doesn't have permission to access My Book Live

Hey,

So I purchased a WD My Book Live and have connected it to my home network. I set it up using my Windows 7 laptop and everything is going smoothly. I can access the “Public” folder and am currently transferring my content onto the device.

My Nexus 7 and iPhone can both access the files fine via the WD2Go app. And my LG Smart TV can access the files fine via DLNA.

However when I try and access the “Public” folder with two MacBook Pro’s that are also on the home network I run into problems. They can open the “Public” folder and view the “Shared Pictures” “Shared Videos” etc. But when you attempt to open any of these it says they dont have permission to access the folder.

This is extremely frustrating and I haven’t found a solution to this anywhere!

If all my devices cannot access the device then it renders itself pointless.

Please help…

Hi, see if the link below helps.

when you mounted the Public folder, what user name did you specify? Since you can connect, it seems you just have credentials issues. Now, these credentials are the ones for MBL, NOT for the Mac.

you would probably have to unmount and mount it again. It will also only show the shares available to the user/credentials you enter.

It will also depend how far in you went in the path:

//192.168.1.50/Public vs //192.168.1.50/
