Defragment My Book Live?

Here is what I got from Western Digital Support:

The drive has absolutely no defragmentation software whatsoever, and there is no way to defrag a network drive. NTFS (Windows file system), and EXT3/XFS (Linux), are completely different in nature, and the network drive should not have any issues with fragmentation that would affect its performance.

Google Search: Linux Windows defragmentation

This lead me to Why doesn’t Linux need defragmenting?

This explains the difference in file systems between Windows and Linux.

That and some of the other articles indicate that you really don’t need to defragtment the My Book Live.

Thanks,

Dave
