Create Roaming Profiles for Windows

Just curious if anyone is able to operate the MBL with “Windows Roaming Profiles” without a domain controller or Windows server to be able to login to other computers on the same network while havings your personal settings roam with you?

What I’m trying to achieve for example:

I have 2 PCs with the following usernames and passwords identical:

PC1 - Win7 ultimate

user1/pass1

user2/pass2

PC2 - Win7 ultimate

user1/pass1

user2/pass2

2 MBL Share folders:

user1/pass1

user2/pass2

Using User Account Manager (Start/Run “control userpasswords2”), assigning “user1” a profile path of  “\MBLServer\user1\profile”

This seems like the logical way to set this up but there are issues with Windows connecting to the share. I think it has to do with security permissions. I can only get as far as mapping a home drive but not being able to redirect my profile path which consists of the “desktop, documents, settings etc” .

Before I start experimenting by changing permissions to shares on the MBL I was wondering if anyone was able to get this going?

How would one access the security settings of the shares outside of Windows?

Thanks!

bpm2012,

Unfortunately, at this moment the WD My Book Live Personal Cloud Storage does not feature joining into a domain and associated possibilities.
