So far I’ve only ever encounteed problems with the Dashboard UI and had fo “enable” a few features by very mindly tweaking the Linux OS’s services. Apart from that the MyBook Live I’ve got os proving to be quite reliable. I actually use it as the work-space for video editing projects. It’s more than fast enough to cope. 
It sits in the corner of a room, out of the way and gets power through a surge/RFI filter.
