Backing up Entire MyBookLive to another MBL

So I realized I should have bought a MBL Duo to start to keep my data redundant in Raid. Currently using the MBL as a file server for my office. We share generally documents and pictures nothing large. I would like to have keep a backup copy of the MBL and have this process automated. Is it possible to just purchase another MBL and have it backup the other one or should I just sell my MBL and get a Duo or any other better device?

If I have to sell it, how do I do a secure erase?

Thanks for your suggestions

Manual will have most answers to your questions. Please read it.

my $.02, even if you get the Duo, still need to back it up. A Duo is redundancy, not backup. Make sure you understand the difference.

Here are some topics on it:

You can also use rsync, since these devices have Debian Lenny.

I tried searching but it can get difficult when you use the word “backup” and “mybooklive”.

After flipping through a few pages here I found the answer in another topic as well. I finished reading some parts in the manual and I completely forgot about the “SafePoints.” Thanks for bringing this back to light and explaining the difference between backing up and redundancy.

This sounds like a great idea and at this stage I should purchase a DUO and use my MBL as a backup but looking at the price point. I could get a 2TB MBL for $130 or a 4TB DUO for $350. Not really worth the extra for the raid features.

Thanks again for helping me make up my mind.
