Copying files within the MBL

Hi,

I was trying to copy a folder from my MBL into another location on the MBL.

Apparently, Windows transfers all data to my computer first, and then writes it back to the MBL, which of course greatly constrains copying speed. Is there any way around this?  Can I enforce a “direct copying” somehow?

Thanks!

Not by using Windows Copy.

Unless both the source and destination are in the same share, what you’re describing is required by the protocol.

You’d have to do it by logging into the MBL via SSH and doing the copying there, where everything is local.

Thanks, but my copying happened withing the same share, I guess: I tried to copy data from a source folder into a target subfolder – with target being a subfolder of the source!

But I will try to reactivate my rusty linux skills and try to SSH my way into the MBL…

Hmmm.   Well, that shouldn’t happen.

Are you connecting directly via a Network Share, or are you using WD 2Go, or perhaps, has your PC incorrectly mounted the MBL via WebDAV?
