Safepoint files & space

I’ve been having a lot of difficulty setting up a safepoint. Finally reformated my WD MYBook drive & now I finally have one.However both the space and the number of files on my MYBook 3TB are substantially less than the number on the original drive which is a WD mybookliveduo 8TB
Is this possible for a good safepoint backup or did it fail ?
How do I get a good backup

I have 1.73 TB to back up on my safepoint

It looks like none of the drives is a MyCloud drive. Are you in the wrong forum?

The number of files in the safepoint folder holding directories corresponding to the shares of the disk should be equal to the number of files in the shares. There are other files and folders created by safepoint (indexes, configuration files, etc.)
