Connector on my external hard drive has gone into the hard drive

I plugged my usb connector from my computer into the WD hard drive and the connector on the hard drive has gone into the inner casing and I cannot now plug it in - HELP!

If the drive is under warranty contact WD about a replacement. Opening the drive voids the warranty. You can try taking the drive to an electronics place and see if they can solder the port back on. The other thing is to try anf find a matching board on Ebay. If this is a drive that came with Smartware it is hardware encrypted by the board with the broken plug and connecting as an internal drive will only get encrypted data.

Great will they get the info onto a replacement drive?

No you have to pay for the data recovery.

Thanks Joe
