My 3tb Essentials shows up in Windows 7, can move files to and from drive. I cannot use any WD software on drive, Smartware, Quick format, firmware update, nothing. I also cannot use Windows backup on drive. Smartware sees the drive, but it shows greyed out and says “no writable WD smartware partition found.” Any ideas?
simply the unit is not being detected by the computer… check on disk management to see if the drive is listed on that location.
It is being deteced by everything except WD software. There are no conflicts, disk management shows everything fine, Windows is reporting as a MyBook disk, my BIOS sees it, Smartware will not recognize it. I am baffled. Got support to contact me back and they will talk to me, hopefully they can figure out.
