WD500GB not getting detected on My system

My WD500 external hard drive is not detected on my Window XP system. I tried to connect on other desktop/laptop but it is not detecting.On connection error message says that “One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunction and Window does not recognize it.”

My all USB port are working fine.

I tried to run Data Lifegard Diagnostic but as drive is not detected, it is of no use. What should i do now?I bought it 8 month ago and its still in warranty period.Should i raise a request for replacement or is there any way it can be made alright.

If you connect the drive to a different computer do you encounter the same issue?
