Hi. My WD My Book 2tb is often not recognized for the past few months. When it is recognized, I tried to retrieve/transfer files to my laptop and it takes forever to “prepare files” to be copied and to actually copy them does not end. I was actually copying a small volume of files, 250 mb and I waited 20 minutes for the files to be prepared and another 30 minutes for the files to be copied before My Book stopped working altogether. What should I do?

Have you tried changing the USB cable in case it is degraded or trying to restore the files into another computer?
