WD External hard drive not showing in PC

HI,

My WD external hard drive is not showing up in my PC. I think the drive has failed. It is showing in the disk management as un allocated space of 2 TB. (although it is 1 TB).

As it is out of warranty I tried the following thing by myself:

  1. Run WD Life guard - Showing ‘Too much corrupted data’. Nothing is doing.

  2. Use of Data recovery software ‘Steller - Free version’ Without showing anything. Too many bad sectors.

  3. Try to install Ubuntu and connected the HDD, but it is not also recognized by the PC.

MY question to WD expert:

  1. Can any data recovery is possible from the drive. This contains all the digital photographs of my daughter from her birth to present day? As the data recovery agencies in India charges heavily can you guide me should I go to them?

  2. How it has happened so suddenly? without any notice, I have another two WD drives, what can be done to prevent the drives having same fate.

It would be great if I can have some positive reply from the WD experts…I lost the last five years of memory…

Hello,

Since you have such valuable data on your drive I recommend contacting a data recovery company in order to get your data recovered.
