WD External HDD 1.0 TB Fried

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I have a WD My Book Essential WDBAAF0010HBK 1.0 TB external. By mistake, My cousin plugged the laptop cable into it and it stopped working. Actually he connected the laptop cable to another WD Harddisk of 1.0TB which also stopped working. But, that HD was old and didn’t have encryption problems, so when I gave it to the repair shop, it got fixed. Now it works fine, but the HD in question is The WD HD. The shop said that the WD hdd board was fried and I had to change it. I read about the swapping HDD PCB on the forum. But out of curiosity I connected the WD HD directly to my PC. As mentioned in your other posts, the HD is showing in the Device Manager but not in the explorer. It says unallocated in the Device Management. But when I use the SATA/USB Bridge, there is only light and the drive doesnot make sound or spin. Now, I am very confused. The PCB looks fine. When connected to PC, the drive spins. So what is the problem? Is it the Logical board or the SATA/USB Bridge? (pictures of the SATA/USB Bridge)

Please help me or is there any way I can recover all my files from the HDD when directly connected to the PC?

Check out the posts by fzabkar he’s helped other people with this or send him a PM. He’s the only one with much of an understanding of these boards.
