NOT GREAT ON COMPUTER SAVVY. I PUT NEW USB2 CARD IN DELL E521 WITH XP . WHEN I PLUG IN WB DRIVE IT COMES UP ON USB SCREEN IN BOTTOM CORNER OF SCREEN AND SAID I COULD PLUG INTO A FASTER USB PORT. I CLICKED BUT CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHERE IT IS. IT DON'T SHOW WHEN I CLICK ON THEIR INFO. THE CARD I PUT IN IS SUPPOSED TO BE USB AND FIRE WIRE. I KNOW FIR WIRE WORKS , I HAVE USED FOR A YEAR OR SO.

If I’m not mistaken, all the ports on the e521 are USB 2.0 standard **Actually I just confirmed it.  Â
Does your error only occur when plugged into a port on the add-in card? What brand/model is the card? Is it a VIA based chipset?
Also, please check your BIOS settings and ensure “High-Speed” or the equivlent settings is selcted in BIOS under USB controller settings. I just worked on a e521 last week… I think pressing F1 gets you into set up during boot.Â
If this is only happening with the card, you might need newer drivers for it… ?
