Problems with networked computers accessing my WD10000H1U

I have had a Western Digital Tera drive for about 3 years now. I haven’t had problems with it at all until recently. My computer can access the external drive just fine, however other computers sporadically have problems accessing it. I do have it set up as a shared drive. They are unable to access the drive until I restart my computer. Today I have restarted my computer 6 times within 7 hours. Help please!!!

Try testing the drive connected directly to the computer.

There could be many reasons why the drive does not work behind the router.

Firewall, internet security and drivers to name a few might have some impact on the drive not been seen.

This is one of the reasons why we do not recommend using USB drives as network units.

Check in the router manufacturer web page to see if there’s any known issues with the router.
