My newest paperweight

So yeah, I really screwed the pooper on this one. In an attempt to make a bootable USB device using the HP key drive boot utility, I accidentally selected my My Book and now Windows can’t read it, saying it needed to be reformated. And if I do go to the drive, right click it and go to Format, the maximum capacity it will allow for is 618 MB, regardless of the file system. Yeah so if you have any idea on how I could recover my data that would be helpful and even more helpful if you know how to make it so I can obtain the full capacity of the drive again. Also want to note that the virtual CD for setting up the drive is still present and can run, but it says it can’t find any writable partitions on the drive.

You can try data recovery programs like Recuva http://www.piriform.com/recuva when you are done trying to recover data and ready to format it try writing zeroes to it with something like WD Digital Lifeguard

Actually your reply to Hitman’s thread is helping me now. TestDisk is recovering all my data currently. I will try Lifeguard after I recover everything.

Thanks

Glad it worked for you. I’ve never had to use it. I know a lot of people have had good luck with it.
