My Book Home Edition Causes boot hang for Five minutes

Greetings . My drive causes the boot on a clean-install of Vista(no sp) to hang for 5 minutes before it actually proceeds with the loading of the OS. If I unplug the drive, and restart, the laptop will boot normally. Thanks for any suggestions.

Update the bios and disable boot from USB
