I have connected the external hard drive to my Linksys e6200. This way access is much easier for my network. The issue is I cannot utilize the config software that was installed on my PC. I would like to at least use the spin down feature. Is there something I’m missing here? Does this external HDD be only setup on a connected PC? I can transfer files, which I have started, so that’s not an issue. Any input would be appreciated!
Hi porzijr, thanks for joining the Community. The config software wont be able to recognize the drive on the network, only when it is connected directly to the PC.
Actually figured it out. Obviuosly it’s not NAS, no ethernet port, but connected to my EA6200 it will be a media server. Add folders to share…then can be see accross different media devices such as game console, blu-ray console, etc. For now this works for me. I don’t have enough ethernet ports on the router fo NAS.
