Can anyone advise where I can obtain a copy of the original CD for my 1TB My Book Essentials?
What model do you have, WD does not have installation disk anymore all the necessary files are store in the drive. Also they use the generic Windows USB drivers.
I have My Book Essential 3TB 3.0 and all the software came loaded on the drive. There was no CD. If you wiped the software out go to Support->Downloads->My Book and select the one that you have. All of the software that was on the drive originally is there to download.
I have tried multiple times reinstalling the WD Smartware software. I get an error message “Application not started from drive”. It will not install. I am using Windows 7 64 bit operating system.
I formatted My Book Essentials 3.0 because Nero Backup had taken over my drive and I wanted it off my drive.
I can not get the WD Smartware software to reinstall. I even tried installing the SES driver first.
