Hard Disk Problem

Hi, I had my external hard disk conected to my laptop, and while moving the laptop the hard disk fell on the floor. Now, there is a sound coming from inside the disk and the PC cannot coonect to it. is my hard disk gone, or could it be fixed?

please advice.

Hi yskainy

You have just said the two things that hard drives don’t like “dropped” and “Funny sound inside” and I’m sorry to say, that the drive might be broken. You can recover the data (at a cost) but the chances of keeping the drive is slim.

When you connect your hard drive does it spin up and make a clicking sound?

Hi,

Actually yes, that’s exactly what happens.

If the hard drive is broken, fine, but can I recover the Data?

Thanks,

Hi yskainy

In therory Yes they will, if they cant use programs to pull the information off they can dismantal the drive and read each plate. But this is very costly - How important is the information?

Thanks a lot buddy,

haha,

I guess that’s out of the question.

Cheers,

Dont worry everyone has been down that path - I lost a 1TB which had a video file which I was working on, spent a good 16hours on it…all gone
