HELP... Used wrong power cord... Can I save my files?

Hello,

This is my problem. I have had  issues with my My Book Premium Edition Legacy External Hard drive for some time now. I have the clicking noises and the unit not starting up. I’ve been trying all the suggestions; plugging power cord into wall outlet, using a different data cable, and nothing. I was looking through my collection of adapters, power cords, etc., for something that I can use. I found a power cord, plugged it in and (that’s right, you guessed it) POP               Is there anything I can do to save my files?

Thank you for your time,

Mike

oh, and your drive was most likely dying anyway.  that clicking noise is usually an indication of that, especially since you already plugged the drive directly into the wall.
