Cannot Reformant MyBook Essential 2.5 TB

I have a WD MyBook Essential.  I want to reformat the drive to the Factory Default to work on Windows 7.  Whenever I try to execute QuickReformat, after selecting the factory format, I receive the error message: “Your WD external drive is in use.  Please close all open applications and try again.”

I have rebooted.  I have disconnected the MyBook and plugged it back into a different USB port.  Nothing works.  I keep getting this same error message.

An antivirus or other security software might be interfering.  You may try reformatting the drive using Disk Management:
