Can programs be run from the external hard drive?

I’ve only started playing around with my new 3TB hard drive. 

I really have two questions. Can I see the files backed up on the hard drive in the folder and can I run programs like games from the external hard drive? Thanks

It could be possible, but that’s something you need to investigate with the software manufacturer…

Running programs like games from an extrernal will probably be slow.
