Backup runs unacceptably slowly

I’ve installed a 4TB USB 3.0 drive to a new PC running Windows 10 with an AMD A10 processor and 12 GB RAM.  Running my first backup with about 220 GB of data to transfer took over 48 hours to complete and the data transfer rate appeared to be less than 5 MB/Sec.  My expectation with a USB 3.0 connection was that the data transfer rate should be something close to 100 MB/Sec.  Is this slow data transfer rate typical?  If not, what can I do to improve the transfer rate?

Is that a laptop or a desktop computer? If is a desktop, test the unit on the back USB ports of the computer. Also make sure that the USB ports that you are connecting the drive, are also USB 3.0

The PC in question is an HP Envy 700 series desktop.  The drive is plugged in to a blue-tab USB 3.0 port on the back panel of the unit.
