After firmware update, My Book Essential 2TB no longer powers off with PC

After updating the firmware on my “My Book Essential” 2TB from the version it shipped with (v 1.xxx?) to version v2.018 it no longer turns itself off when I shut down my PC.

Previously, when I shut down my PC, the drive would turn off completely. Now the drive only goes into standby mode, with the front light constantly blinking

Is there some way I can get the drive to turn off completely or alternatively revert to an earlier version of the firmware?

Hi there.

As far as I know there’s no way to revert the firmware, but you can fully power it off by pressing and holding the power button on the back.

For some reason the power button on the back of the drive only turns it off if my PC is on! It doesn’t do anything when the PC is switched off - I’ve tried holding the button and just using a short press.
