2TB MY Book Essential Crashes PC

Using XP SP3. Tried doing backups to the drive and the HP workstation xw8400 crashes and bounces back up by itself. Downloaded the firmware update and it still does the same thing. Got a mout 3/4 way through a backup of a 750GB C: drive and the system went down. HDD 5 is the 2TB My Book. This is a brand new disk and is crashing the system out of the box.

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk5\D during a paging operation.
