Wp elements 1TB not any longer found on my mac

WP ELEMENTS 500GB or 1TB, can’t see, can’t remember. there is no extra charger, it’s charged directly from MacBook

P/N WDBUZGOO001088K

connectes at the external drive the light is continuesly on, also on my other Macbook Pro

the drive used to work as i used it for backups

it doesn’t show any longer on disk utility nor Finder where other external drives and USB stick do and work perfectly.

tried at terminal: ls -laeO@ /Volumes

and it shows:

Hello,

This unit is a plug an play drive. As a recommendation, try to update the USB drivers on your Mac and if possible test the unit on a different computer.

Gently put your ear next to the harddrive. What do you hear?

sometimes it works, sometimes not. when it mounts i can see the files stored and the backup from time machine. 

most times is does not work, and when it does it disconnects after a few minutes

as there is no extra power supply and USB ports are working correctly i don’t now other solutions. 

mounting in finder and/or disk utility don’t always go togetter
