My passport for mac

i have just bought a hard drive, the one i got was “my passport for mac”. i backed up all my docs, music, movies and pictures. If i delete them on my mac, will it take any effect on my hard drive?

i tried opening a movie to test if it could work without my hard drive and it doesnt seem to work on my mac.

If you used a backup program or manually copied your files then no, it wont delete your files.
