Mac and pc compatible external hard drive

I have 3 hard drives with my old PC data and documents on them.  I am getting a new iMac that features both USB 3.0 and thunderbolt i/o connections.  Is there an external hard drive with 3-4 TB of space, compatible with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 as well as thunderbolt, and ultimately compatible with Mac and PC?  I would like to make my PC data available on my Mac.  Anything out there?

Hello,

At this moment Western Digital does not have an external drive with the specifications you have mentioned. However you can get a 4 TB My Book (WDBACW0040HBK-NESN). This drive is USB 3.0 and it also works on USB 2.0 but it does not have Thunderbolt interface.

In order to use a hard drive on Windows and Mac you may format it to a file system called FAT32.

The problem with FAT32 is the largest file size is 4 gig. There are some software solutions that might help. One was NTFS-3G http://mac.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/NTFS-3G.shtml if the link still works. It switched to pay and most of the free links were disabled. Check post 6 in this thread http://community.wdc.com/t5/WD-Portable-Drives/unwritable-drive/td-p/435872 there a few other ideas.
