Desktop icon for WD My Passport for Mac displays a dial in the red

Dear WD Community,

I purchased the WD My Passport for Mac 1TB last week, registered, etc., and backed up my late-2008 Macbook running Snow Leopard with no glitches. Things were more or less fine with backups although occasionally I’d get a message saying there was an error in backing up with Time Machine. I attributed it to a loose USB 2.0 port–and usually when I then backed up it was fine. But today, I noticed when I plugged in the WDMP the icon showed up on the desktop superimposed with what looks like a boiler dial with the needle in the red. Could someone please tell me what that means. I’ve run the SMART STATUS and Quick Drive Test, which the drive passed. When I try to run the Complete Drive Test, it self-cancels after hitting 10%, with no indication of why. I’ve run Disk Utility disk repair and it says Volume Repair Complete. I also verified afterwards and the disk appears to be okay. Any insights are appreciated. Thanks

This is normal

turbo drivers were installed and that’s the reason why the icon changed

the drive will continue working fine
