Can't find my passport 1TB for mac on the computer?

I bought the drive about a year and a half ago before starting college, set the password, promptly lost the password, and haven’t used it since.

I know that I need to wipe the drive in order to access it again, but I can’t find it anywhere on my computer. No icon shows up, searching my Mac doesn’t help… I found it in Disk Utility, which said it was fine, but I don’t know how else to access it.

When I plug the USB into the computer I get a popup prompt to enter my password. The application doesn’t show up anywhere else, though, not even in the top bar. And entering a dozen wrong passwords does nothing to dissuade it.

Any help?

Hello there and welcome to the WD community.

Try installing the WD security software in order to see if by writing the password wrong 5 time then you will get a prompt stating  that the drive will be erased, you will see a check box that says i understand and then you can erase the drive and the drive will not have a password anymore. If in any case you do not want to erase the drive then you can try to input the correct password and you will have to unplug the drive every certain amount of times that you fail to put the password and then plug it back in and try again.
