Western Digital MyBook not mounting on Macbook Pro

Hello, 

I’m unable to mount my MyBook 2tb onto my MB Pro.  I had it plugged into a USB hub that I am quite sure was fried somehow, although I’m not sure exactly what caused the issue - all I know is that it stopped working and smelt really bad. I also had a mouse that was plugged into the hub which seems to have been affected as well.  

I’m unable to see the drive in Disk Utility, so I can’t troubleshoot there, and I’ve tried using this on another computer to no avail.  I understand that it is likely that this caused something to short in the hard drive, so I’m more concerned with data recovery than getting this one to work again.  Does anyone have any recommendations, or suggestions? It is still under warrenty from Staples, so I should be able to replace the drive.

Sorry about that mate, It’s hard to try to fix that drive without voiding the warranty of the unit. 

Have you tried using different cables or a different computer?

Have you tried using a data recovery software to see if that can mount the drive?
