WD10000C033 500GB RAID 1 Rebuild taking days!

I have a WD10000C033 w/2 WD5000AAKS drives hooked up via FW800 to an iMac.

WD Drive Manager (v1.0.1) told me the A drive in my enclosure needed to be replaced. I believe it judging from the noise and heat coming from the thing.

I bought, as the replacement drive, a WD5000AAKX drive and popped it in.  Drive manager says its rebuilding and shows a spinner next to the drive. It’s been in this state for about 4 days! There’s only 180GB on the drive. Why is this taking so long?

Depending on the drive, you can only replace the internal drives with specific drives. Since I do not know what drive model you have, I will not be able to give you more information. But you can go to the WD support page and look for the User Manual. The Usual Manual usually has a section that talks about replacing the internal drives of an enclosure. That will give you more information as to how to replace the internal drive and if an specific drive model is mandatory.

Hope it helps!

Hi, I did give the model number of both the original drive and the replacement in my post above.
