I have a macbook air and an external hard drive for mac where I back up my data. None of the pc computers see the hard drive when I connect it to them even though I created a partition with an ExFAT format. How can this be solved?

Windows is not able to recognize a partition formatted for Mac.
I recommend you create a Fat32 partition.
