WD My Passport Essential SE not working properly after upgrading to Yosemite

Just recently upgraded to Yosemite OS.  Plugged in my Passport Essential and received the following error message:

“There is no writable WD SmartWare partition available on this WD drive.  This can occur if you are attempting to write to a WD drive formatted for a different operating system, or if the drive is locked.  Please make sure that this WD drive is formatted for the operating system you are currently working on, and that the drive is unlocked.”

The drive worked fine when I was on Snow Leopard.

Any suggestions to fix the issue?

Thanks!

Hello, welcome to the community.

Have you tried uninstalling and re-installing the smartware? What format is the drive formatted to?
