WD My Passport 1TB Failing

I purchased a WD My Passport 1TB on Nov. 27, 2014 and recently my computer is not recognizing the drive.  It’s also making a clicking sound.  I took it to the Apple store and was told the drive is failing and since it’s still under warranty to contact the company.  I have twice and keep getting the same response, “we are happy to replace the device, but we don’t recover”.  How is this possible???  They cannot just replace the drive because my children’s pictures over the past 11 years are on there. I’m so confused as to what to do next.  Any advice? Thanks.

Hello,

You can try using a data recovery software to recover your files from the drive. If this does not work then you can also try contacting a data recovery company.

The clicking often occurs due to the external device being knocked around a bit. They are sensitive devices.

Were you able to contact a recovery company to retrieve your files?
